Howdy, Folks!

For those of you unfamiliar with this line, it is a direct quote from Big Tex, the host of the State Fair of Texas.

The kids had a holiday today. We all spent the day at the Great State Fair of Texas. Fun fact: Did you know that the State Fair of Texas is the largest state fair in the US? Now you do. We had a great time. It was the best $75.00 dollars I have spent in a long time. Braden and Cara-Lee rode the bumper cars, and the expressions on their faces were completely priceless: shear exhileration! They really love the fun houses, too. There are several of them out there now and the kids never tire of them. I remember what that was like, never wanting the ride to end, or back tracking through the fun house because the end was near.

Braden is so much like his dad in that he loves the auto exhibits. He knows more about the new models than I do, especially the trucks. His favorite is the Honda Ridgeline. Cara-Lee just loves to climb in and out of every one she can.

Of course, the food is something else, too. We did pretty well this year, only hot dogs and the famous Fletcher corn dogs. The turkey legs always look tempting, but I know better. I have had one and it is not worth 12 tickets ($6.00). I would have to say that the best buy at the fair is the ice cold canned soft drink or bottled water available from the Daughter's of the American Revolution Museum for a $1.00 donation. Good museum, too.
Being with the kids at the fair today was a load of fun. Seeing them have fun is always a thrill ride for me. I hope to be on this ride for a long time.

Be good.
